In the Armpit of Texas ... and no Water to be Seen
Hi folks!
I am here in McAllen Texas on a so-called vacation. I have not yet reached the Gulf of Mexico and do not think I will be able to .. which totally sucks. An Aquarian that does not see a REAL water body at least 3 times a year makes for a more bitchier one. One thing that holds me from wanting to twist off my head is the fact that Amegrito will be coming to America soon and I look forward to his reception. In fact, I am preparing an elaborate welcome to America event.
Also, I have gotten me a new digital camera that I am still learning to use as the features are many. Perhaps I shuld just aim and shoot and forgo all the fancy stuff for now.
I have tried to read all your blogs .. and tried to make comments .. for those blogs that I did not get to reach - I apologize and will take the time to get to them. I miss you all .. and I am waiting to get back home to familiar surroundings. Some of you have travelled to places while I have been gone and I can assure you, that McAllen does not RANK with them! Oh well .. it is rather interesting to return to a place where my FREEDOM was very much tested. Love you all and miss you much.

You are in McAllen!?! I am from McAllen! Who told you to go there to see the ocean? They need to be shot, ASAP! If you are craving some good food and you are in McAllen visit La Casa del Taco on 10th and Houston. They have a great botana platter. Good Luck!

Hello Femme!!! I am back! Sooner than planned. I hope you WILL make it to the Sea. Water is lovely. Who is Amegrito? Is it a fellow blogger? Lemme check out your fave list. Yay for new digi cameras. Ugh. Texas. Bush. Yuck. Although I would still like to see San Antonio, Dallas and Houston. So, I take some of that back. Not about Bush. Yuck.

d_f, Stella and I just returned from our trip to Texas and we had a wonderful time! The weather cooperated, our friend told us that the 94 humid degrees was absolutely autumnal in it's cool breeziness.
.
The people everywhere were lovely, very cordial and nice, and although the extensive freeways made me a bit apprehensive, the drivers were polite, not at all aggressive, and getting around was confusing, but never scary or unpleasant.
.
I am a major Texas fan now, I may just go live in the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, and cool off in the froggy fountains. I hope your vacation turns out to have some wonderful times, I feel a bit guilty now because ours was so good.
